Seniors! The Mitchell Scholarship is Now OPEN!!
Every year, the Mitchell Institute awards a $10,000 college scholarship to at least one graduating senior from each public high school in Maine. In 2024, the Mitchell Institute awarded $1.84 million in scholarships to 184 Mitchell Scholars from communities statewide. Students are eligible to apply if they are planning to pursue a two-year or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university (in or out of Maine). **To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be full-time residents of Maine. Boarding students from households with residency outside of Maine are not eligible to apply for the Mitchell Scholarship. The application is due March 1st. Students can find the application and all necessary materials on The Mitchell Scholarship page (HERE). Questions should be directed to Casey Near, Scholarship Director at (207) 358-7732 or your school counselor.

Winter Break International Volunteer Opportunity for Students
Please read below to learn more about an exciting, completely cost-free opportunity for students to volunteer with a Conversational English Chat Group as part of the Lexicon Ambassadors Program during the upcoming winter break. This program has been incredibly rewarding for both U.S. high school student volunteers and the international students they assist. Volunteers foster meaningful cultural exchanges while helping learners improve their conversational English skills. It's a fantastic opportunity for students to develop leadership, mentorship, and global communication skills while making a tangible difference in someone's educational journey. What makes this program truly unique is that it is entirely free. Students never need to pay anything—now or in the future—to participate or benefit from the resources this program provides. Additionally, volunteers receive academic support from the Lexicon Ambassadors team, including resources to enhance their mentoring abilities, improve communication skills, and develop cultural awareness. This ensures their success and continued personal growth throughout the program. To sign up, go to: https://form.jotform.com/242591556942162
