SCHEDULE FOR SENIOR FINAL EXAMINATIONS Classroom teachers will conduct finals within their normal class period.

SENIOR PROJECT The goal of Senior Project is to provide an opportunity for eligible seniors to work with a business/community partner for 40* hours over two weeks between May 13th-May 26th, in place of attending classes at the high school. It is expected that seniors will pursue a project in an area that they are passionate about or very curious about and will seek to use it as a learning experience. Participation in the Senior Project is voluntary. Submission of Senior Project proposal is due by April 23rd.

SENIORS’ LAST DAY Students not participating in the Senior Project are to attend regularly scheduled classes for the weeks during the project and normal school rules apply. The last full Blue Day is Thursday, May 23 and the last full White Day is Friday, May 24.

The last day of school for seniors who have been approved for Senior Projects is Friday, May 10.

TELEGRADS You are invited to send a “Telegrad” letter to show your support of our seniors. Let the graduates know how proud you are of their accomplishments. Please click HERE for more information.

MARCHING PRACTICE Marching practice is a required activity for seniors, and we expect them to arrange work schedules and other appointments to accommodate the practice schedule. It is very important that students are on time for all practices. Starting on time allows us to end on time or in some cases earlier than expected. During these practices, we attend to all the little wrap-up details of the year, such as lost or unreturned books or equipment, athletic uniforms, and outstanding bills. Diplomas will be held for seniors who owe money or materials, so we ask for your support in making sure your senior has tied up all these loose ends before marching practice begins. Students should consider wearing the shoes they plan to wear during the ceremony for each marching practice. So that all the ceremonies run smoothly, I need 100% attendance at the practices. If unavoidable things come up (college orientations, for example), I’d like to have advance notice of an absence.

Marching practice will take place on Wednesday, May 29, Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31 at 8:00 AM in the KHS Gymnasium. All students intending to participate in the graduation ceremony must be in attendance. We anticipate practices to be approximately 2 hours.

CAP & GOWN DISTRIBUTION (Thursday, May 30) The cost is $30.00 and due on or before that day. Please make checks payable to RSU21. Please note: all outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to distribution of caps and gowns. Should a family be in need of assistance please contact me at jsirois@rsu21.net.

SENIOR BREAKFAST (Friday, May 31 at 7:00 AM) at St. Martha’s Church - 30 Portland Road, Kennebunk. It’s very important that students thank the Kennebunk Rotarians and those members from the community who are coming in to continue this tradition.

SENIOR ASSEMBLY (Friday, May 31 at 12:30 PM in the Gymnasium) Arrival time for this event is 11:45 AM in graduation attire. Seniors march with their caps and gowns in front of the entire student body and staff. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

CLASS NIGHT (Friday, May 31 at 6:00 PM in the Gymnasium) This ceremony will feature numerous honors, recognitions, awards and scholarships. Arrival time for the graduates is 5:15 PM in the cafeteria. Seniors will march with their caps and gowns to the Gymnasium for the awards and scholarships. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR GRADUATION Graduation is a memorable event in the lives of the graduate and their families. Caps and gowns along with appropriate attire is a piece of this. Appropriate dress could be a collared shirt (with or without a tie), pants (not jeans), blouse, dress, or skirt. A suit coat is not a good idea because of the heat in June. Dress shoes, sandals, low heels or flats are encouraged.

GRADUATION & TICKETS (Sunday, June 2 at 10:00 AM) on the KHS Stadium Field. The Class of 2024 is to report to the baseball outfield at 9:15 AM in graduation attire. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will take place in the KHS Gymnasium. If the event needs to be moved inside there will be a limited number of tickets, usually 8-10 each, that will be evenly distributed amongst the graduates. If you would like to be added to the list for potential extra tickets please reach out to Karen Dumont (kdumont@rsu21.net).

PROJECT GRADUATION Students participating in Project Graduation will need to be back at the high school by 1:45 p.m. on June 2nd; buses will depart promptly by 2:15 p.m. for a reservation at our first (secret!) location. For more information about Project Graduation, please read this informational handout. There is a permission form for parents/guardians to fill out that is included in the handout. Hard copies of the permission form are available in the main office.

I’m sure that there are hundreds of details that we will be giving to the seniors that were not covered here, but it’s our hope that this information will be of help to you. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns, and I will be happy to answer them.

Sincerely,

Jeremie R. Sirois, Principal jsirois@rsu21.net
